Documentation
A psychological construct measured by the assessment. Operationally, a subtest is a class of scores on an assessment. Some assessments may have only one subtest or type of score but most assessments measure more than one psychological construct. The subtest can be based upon items in a section or items that are empirically related. Subtests can also be composites of other subtests that are combined using a particular algorithm. Examples of subtests of an assessment are math total, reading composite, total test, and English composition.

Name | Mandatory | Characteristics | Type | Description | XPath |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
@refId | * | gRefIdType | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/@refId | ||
assessmentSubTest | any | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest | |||
subTestVersion | O | token | Identifies the version of the subtest that this object instance represents. Note that new versions of subtests must generate new RefIds and therefore a new subtest object instance. The format of the numbering system is determined by the assessment provide | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestVersion | |
subTestPublishDate | O | date | Identifies the date that this version of the subtest was published (published means made available for use). If a SubTestVersion is provided, then this element should also be provided. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestPublishDate | |
subTestIdentifier | OR | token | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestIdentifierList/subTestIdentifier | ||
subTestName | O | normalizedString | Text name of the subtest. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestName | |
scoreMetric | * | M | token | The metric or scale used to report the scores. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/scoreScaleList/scoreScale/scoreMetric |
minimum | O | token | Lowest possible score value. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/scoreScaleList/scoreScale/minimum | |
maximum | O | token | Highest possible score value. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/scoreScaleList/scoreScale/maximum | |
scoreTableRefId | O | gRefIdPointerType | This identifies the specific score table used by this subtest to generate the score if applicable. Note that the score metric in this object should match the to-score-metric in the score table. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/scoreScaleList/scoreScale/scoreTableRefId | |

hexValue | string | As of version 3.4 hex values are not published with the code sets. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestSubjectAreaList/subTestSubjectArea/hexValue | ||
hexValueDashed | string | This element is deprecated as of version 3.3 and should not be used. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestSubjectAreaList/subTestSubjectArea/hexValueDashed | ||

assessmentSubTestRefId | OR | gRefIdPointerType | A reference to a child AssessmentSubTest by RefId. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/assessmentSubTestRefIdList/assessmentSubTestRefId | |
containerOnly | O | gYesNoUnknownType | Indicator describing the purpose of an AssessmentSubTest as being that of a container for the child AssessmentSubTests. There will be no scores within this subtest. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/containerOnly | |
subTestTier | O | int | An integer that defines the level or tier of the score in a multi-level arrangement of composite scores. Zero indicates the highest or root level. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/subTestTier | |
learningStandardItemRefId | OR | gRefIdPointerType | A reference to a LearningStandardItem by RefId. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/learningStandardItemRefIdList/learningStandardItemRefId | |
abbreviation | O | token | This is the short version of the name of, or code identifying, the assessment subtest. It is often used for quick reference and used in reports. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/abbreviation | |
description | O | string | The description element provides an opportunity to pass additional information about the assessment and also be used for describing elements in a test hierarchy. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/description | |
numberOfItems | O | int | This element records the number of items included on the assessment. This number may be different than the possible score. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/numberOfItems | |
assessmentItemRefId | * | M | gRefIdPointerType | This identifies the specific item that contributes to a sub-test score. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/assessmentItemList/assessmentItem/assessmentItemRefId |
itemWeightCorrect | O | decimal | This provides a weighting factor for how the item score is used to compute a sub-test score when the item is correct or partially correct. Item weight of 1 indicates the full item score is used. A weight of .5 would indicate the item only contributes one | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/assessmentItemList/assessmentItem/itemWeightCorrect | |
itemWeightIncorrect | O | decimal | This provides a weighting factor for how the item score is used to compute a sub-test score when the item is attempted and incorrect. Item weight should be a negative value if the item subtracts from the score if missed. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/assessmentItemList/assessmentItem/itemWeightIncorrect | |
itemWeightNotAttempted | O | decimal | This provides a weighting factor for how the item score is used to compute a sub-test score when the item has not been attempted by the student. Item weight should be a negative value if the item subtracts from the score if not attempted. | /assessmentSubTests/assessmentSubTest/assessmentItemList/assessmentItem/itemWeightNotAttempted |
